Egyptian, Israeli troops trade fire

Israeli and Egyptian forces have exchanged fire near Rafah amid growing tensions between the two sides over the Tel Aviv regime’s onslaught on the Gaza Strip.

Citing military sources, Israeli media said Egyptian troops fired at Israeli soldiers who returned fire.

An Egyptian soldier was killed in the exchange of fire.

The Egyptian Armed Forces said they are conducting an investigation into the shooting.

Daily News Egypt, an independent English-language Egyptian newspaper, cited unnamed sources as saying Egyptian soldiers were "affected" by the Rafah massacre on Sunday.

Israeli forces seized the Rafah border crossing earlier this month as they launched an offensive in Rafah.

The occupation of the crossing has increased tensions between Egypt and Israel, threatening a peace treaty between the two sides, which had previously fought four wars.
